The number of young people at today's Armistice Day remembrance service in Dereham has given hope for the future of such events.
During the service, pupils from Dereham Church Infant and Nursery School laid wreaths at the town's war memorial.
President of the Dereham branch of the Royal British Legion Dennis O'Callaghan said: 'It's a beautiful day and we've had a very good turnout of people.
'The school children were excellent and very well behaved and it's really good to see them involved.
'It's great to see so many people here and it's particularly good to see younger people turning out to pay their respects.
'It's important for them to take part and to help ensure these events can continue long into the future.'
The service was conducted by Rev Sally Theakston.
Veterans, serving members of the armed forces, members of the Royal British Legion and Royal Air Forces Association, Dereham mayor Phillip Duigan and other councillors joined more than 200 people for two minutes' silence.
Mr Duigan said: 'I'd like to thank Dennis and Sally for their work on this event and it's been great to see so many people out in Dereham, paying their respects.'
