It's been another memorable year in Norfolk, from record breaking dandelions to Dippy the dinosaur and everything in between. We take a look back at the most memorable quotes of 2016 across the county.

4. 'I saw people being arrested for violence, people collapsed in their own vomit and for a time it was pretty chaotic down there. I never would have thought a night out in Norwich could be so raucous, or turn so sour for some.' 9. 'The presence of Dippy in Norwich will naturally bring people from all backgrounds and beliefs and will stimulate questions and debate about creations and the origins of life as well as some of the major issues facing humanity today.' 10. 'The original design for the traffic island was extended to provide more space for cyclists crossing from the Farmers Avenue cycle link. Unfortunately, an oversight in the redesign meant the space for turning right from Rouen Road was not recalculated and this resulted in some longer vehicles struggling to get around the new island.' A spokesperson for Transport for Norwich discusses plans to move a traffic island eight metres down the hill after a planning oversight, resulting in 26 days of disruption, in September 2016.
11 'When we started last January, if you had offered this amount of progress by the end of the year, we'd have grabbed it with both hands.' Ian Taylor, project manager at Norfolk County Council, after warning cold weather could prevent a 2017 opening for the controversial Norwich Northern Distributor Road, December 2016.
12. ' If we see the bollards being removed again we will be rushing out and re-chaining ourselves to them' Lesley Cunneen and her neighbour Marilyn Mann chained themselves to the bollards on Clarendon Road in Norwich to protect the character and heritage of the area, August 2016.
13. 'We would like to add that in our experience the majority of lap dancing clubs are not the hellhole of depravity they are sometimes portrayed to be and are often frequented by ladies as well as gentlemen.' 14. 'To Norwich City Council. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience caused by my driving on your roads. You have made it quite clear you don't want me to use any of your roads with all your schemes to make it impossible to get anywhere around the city.' Tony Self from Sprowston wrote to the Evening News, fed up of the city's traffic problems, in October 2016.
15. 'We went out to have a look to see what was going on. We saw at least four individual whales which we believed to be sperm whales swimming around in the shallow water.' Nigel Croasdale, manager of Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary, was called to Hunstanton Beach after a sperm whale became stranded on the cliffs, January 2016.

17. 'When I started I was told I wouldn't see much of the service charge, but they didn't tell me I wouldn't see any of it.' Bills restaurant in Norwich got into hot water this year after claims that service charge payments were kept by the company, March 2016.

19. 'I realise people like me are living too long and without us the problem might be less acute, so maybe voluntary euthanasia is the answer. At least you would have a guaranteed destination, get there on time, and it could even be more enjoyable than driving through the city.' R Headland was another disgruntled Norwich driver that wrote to us, October 2016.
