Volunteers are sought for a study about how e-cigarettes can help stop people relapsing after giving up smoking.

Researchers at the University of East Anglia are calling for people who have previously used e-cigarettes to give up smoking.

They want to learn about the effectiveness of e-cigarettes for this purpose.

The study - funded by Cancer Research UK - requires members of the public who have quit with the help of e-cigarettes, or have gone back to smoking.

Statistics suggest 90pc of attempts to stop smoking end in relapse.

Meanwhile e-cigarette use has boomed and previous studies have shown many people use them to either cut down or stop smoking.

But the researchers quote a survey showing up to 63pc went back to smoking.

Volunteers for the study will be interviewed by phone or in person about their experience of using e-cigarettes.
