The Victorian thriller Gaslight is taking to the stage at the Maddermarket Theatre, in Norwich, next month.
Norwich-based Moss Bank Productions is presenting the show from April 5 to 7 at 7.30pm each night.
Written by Patrick Hamilton, it sees Jack Manningham slowly and deliberately driving his wife, Bella, insane. Her only tether to reality is a gaslight mounted on her wall, which fades up and down suspiciously. On the brink of madness, she is introduced to former detective Rough, who believes Jack to be a thief and murderer. With only a memory and the testimony of an allegedly mad woman, Rough attempts to prove Bella's sanity, not only to those around her, but also, to herself. The show is directed by Alexander Banks and Laura Williamson, and stars Christopher Neal, Joanna Swan, Peta Morrant, Glenda Gardener and Amy Ellis.
