Four fire crews from across Norfolk were called to Horsford this afternoon to tackle a blaze caused by a tumble dryer.
Crews from Sprowston, Earlham, Carrow and Hethersett were dispatched to the property on Oak Grove at 12.20pm.
The crews used hose reel jets and a thermal image camera to extinguish the fire.
The 49-year-old owner, who did not want to be named, was in at the time with her daughter, aged 20.
She said: 'It was the tumble dryer. I put it on and then smelled a bit of smoke.
'I went to have a look and there were flames coming out of it. I turned off the electricity and called the fire brigade.'
The owner said she grabbed her three dogs and her daughter before running out of the house.
'My daughter went back into the house, against my will to get her parrots.
'Everything was a blur.'
Speaking from the scene, a spokesperson for the fire service, said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire.
He said the blaze was contained to the roof of the property.
It is understood one person was inside at the time, but made it out safely.
