If you applied for London Marathon but were not successful, you can still take on a 26 mile run with wonderful scenery.

The Breckland Forest Marathon will take place on the same day as the London Marathon - Sunday, April 23 - and is encouraging people to take on the challenge.

Starting at 9am from the British Trust for Ornithology's site at Nuns' Bridges in Thetford, the route takes in the Little Ouse river path plus a diversion at Santon Downham to Brandon and back.

There will also be a half marathon.

The Brandon House Hotel will act as a half-way checkpoint, where runners can pick up some refreshments before setting off for the return run.

About 80 runners are expected to take part.

To enter, the marathon is £25 or £20 for the half, and all finishers will get a medal and a goody bag.

Tickets will be available to buy here

Volunteers are also needed to help at the checkpoints, including at Brandon and Santon Downham.
