A runner has braved the shave as part of fundraising efforts for a 100-mile race.
Jody Donaldson, of Spring Road, Gorleston, had her head shaved as part of her efforts to raise money for the Hospice UK charity.
The 48-year-old started running at the age of 45 after previously never having run before in her life.
The administrator at Bertrams in Norwich lost three and a half stone and has gone on to run in ultra marathons, races which are over 26.2 miles.
Now she is preparing for her biggest challenge yet – completing a 100-mile race in under 24 hours.
The mother-of-three and two grandchildren said: 'I have planned to build up to the 100 miler by booking various events. 45 miles, a 24 hour race, a 100k race plus more marathons and ultra's to help me achieve this race.
'The time of completion mustn't exceed 28 hours and if I am lucky and work hard I will try and set my sights on achieving it in under 24 hours to receive a special 100 mile buckle belt, which is much sought after by distance runners.
'However most of all my aim is just to complete it within the mandatory time.'
Her sponsored head shave took place at Fusion Hair Consultants in High Street, Gorleston and she raised £154.78 with the help of the salon, friends and colleagues.
It is the shortest she has had her hair since she was 13-years-old, and she said the experience was an emotional one.
The Bungay Black Dogs runner said picking just one charity to support was tough.
She added: 'It was a difficult decision to find a charity that I would love to support as they are all so wonderful.
'So I decided to choose one that cares for adults and children with terminal illnesses along with supporting their families.
'The money raised is distributed to all the hospices around the UK.
'Having known people with terminal illnesses myself, this charity really means a lot to me.'
So far she has raised over £730, and is hoping to increase this by as much as possible.
She said: 'There is no set target of funds to raise as I am going to continue to hopefully raise money for this wonderful charity for as long as I can run or walk.'
