A bin lorry burst into flames on the A47 this morning.
It happened at around 8.25am on the westbound carriageway near to the Thickthorn turn off.
The truck - owned by South Norfolk Council - pulled off onto the A11 sliproad, and a Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said three men ran from the vehicle.
Three fire crews were sent to tackle the blaze.
And police were waiting for granules to clean up hydraulic fluid on the road to prevent further accident.
A spokesman for South Norfolk Council said the fire was now out and investigations would be carried out into the cause of the fire.
He added no one had been hurt.
Traffic was starting to move at around lunchtime, as police reopened the outside lane of the main carriageway.
The A47 has now fully reopened, but the A11 slip road at Thickthorn remains closed.
