Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile first became a focal point of the region's tourist industry more than a century ago.
In its glory days it boasted five cinemas and theatres on its concrete shores, with its Winter Gardens gleaming like the town's own crystal palace.
An open-air swimming
pool allowed seaside revellers to soak up the coastal air while they swam, while sprawling pleasure gardens and waterways would give the feel of Norfolk Venice.
Throughout the summer season it would be a bustling epicentre of family fun, as holidaymakers young and old filled the streets, ice cream in hand and spring in step.
Carriages full of tourists would roll into the town's three train stations, leaving as chuffed as the steam engine that pulled them in.
When the sun shone, the Golden Mile would become a living postcard image - one where the words 'wish you were here' would met with 'we wish we were too'.
