Every dog has his day - or so the saying goes.
However, for six-year-old pug Captain, his day is more memorable than most and comes once every year.
The pooch, who is pub dog at The Avenue on Beatty Road in Great Yarmouth, was centre of attention as he celebrated his birthday surrounded by friends - both two-legged and four.
Every year, pub landlady Jo Fuller holds a birthday party for Captain and this was the second year she has done so at the pub - having taken it over with fiancé Colin Oldham in 2016.
There was wagging tails galore on Saturday, as more than 20 dogs and their owners came along to help mark Captain's big day.
The pub was decorated with doggy-balloons and treats, with a special birthday cake for the owners to tuck into - bone-shaped, of course.
Ms Fuller said: 'I've had Captain since he was one and we always throw him a party. He is like a member of the family for us, so we treat him as we would any other member on his birthday.
'I think he's oblivious to what is happening himself, but it's just great to see so many people and all their dogs coming together and having a good time.'
After having the chance to have a thorough sniff around and play with his friends, Captain was treated to a rendition of Happy Birthday before being treated to presents fit for a put.
Ms Fuller added: 'When we tell people about the parties they say I must be nuts, but whenever they come around everybody has a brilliant time, so it's all a bit of fun.
'Captain is such a big part of our life - Colin and I are getting married this December in the Town Hall and he is going to be our ring bearer.'
Wearing his smartest sparkly bowtie, Captain enjoyed soaking up the fuss of his part guests, as he mingled with the many other dogs that came to celebrate.
Pets and their owners were also able to pose for fun photographs in a doggy photobooth while there was also a buffet for the humans to tuck into.
'Captain absolutely loves being a pub dog. Whenever we let him come downstairs into the pub he really enjoys meeting our customers,' his owner added. He's our little boy, so this won't be the last party we throw for him.'
