Levitating paperclips and orbiting pennies were among the challenges faced by students at a physics competition which saw four pupils from Reepham High School emerge as winners.
Feel the Physics was organised by the Institute of Physics and held at County Upper School, Bury St Edmunds.
The Reepham team of Emma Bird, Nessie Everett, Piers Harris and Jack Jarvis had to conduct six quick-fire experiments followed by three in-depth investigations. They then had to present their findings and produce a poster based on one of the activities.
Against strong opposition from schools across the region, the team were delighted to bring the trophy back to Reepham. Their Physics teacher, Kirsty Turner, said: 'It was lovely to see the pupils applying the physics they have learnt at school with such confidence and enthusiasm'.
The pupils also heard from physicist Alan Denton who gave a highly entertaining lecture on perception which included lots of auditory and visual illusions and the use of 3D glasses.
Jack Jarvis said: 'It was a great experience carrying out the different experiments and the lecture about perception was particularly interesting. To win the competition was just the icing on the cake.'
