Former hostage Terry Waite will be recalling the highs and lows of his life at an evening talk hosted by a homeless charity.

Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney is putting on the event at the charity's headquarters at Belsey Bridge, Ditchingham (NR35 2DT) on Friday, July 28, at 7.30pm.

Mr Waite was kidnapped and held captive from 1987 to 1991 in Beirut, Lebanon, while working as an envoy for the Church of England.

Before his capture he had travelled to Lebanon to secure the release of four hostages, including the journalist John McCarthy.

Guests will hear Mr Waite share a selection of extracts from his new book called Out of the Silence.

Mr Waite is president of Emmaus UK.

Tickets cost £20 and include a buffet supper and signed copy of Out of the Silence.
