Police are on the scene of a broken-down vehicle near to the A1074 Norfolk showground junction as traffic in the area is slowing at the start of the two-day Royal Norfolk Show.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays on the Dereham Road towards Longwater, and the A47 from the Postwick/Norwich direction. Queues of up to 1 mile have already been reported there.

There is flooding at the bottom of a slip road off the A11 into Wymondhmam and police are directing traffic around the roundabout at the bottom of the B1135 into the town. There are also reports of delays of up to half an hour on the Thetford bound carriageway at Wymondham following a crash.

A spokesman said: 'That junction is heavily flooded and offices are directing traffic around the roundabout. You can anticipate delays into Wymondham and possibly on the A11 southbound from Norwich.'

The spokesman added a warning to motorists across the county after the heavy rain yesterday and overnight.

He said: 'We would advise people to please drive in accordance with the conditions and expect standing water and debris on the road during the morning rush hour.'

There are also delays of more than half an hour on the A47 from North Tuddenham to the Easton due to Norfolk Show traffic.

Parts of the county recording 50mm or more overnight.

At 7.31am, Santon Downham, near Thetford, recorded it had 84.6mm, while Houghton Hall had 49.2mm and Marham had 54.6mm.

The rain is expected to continue this morning, but should ease off in most parts of the region by midday. However, downpours could continue on and off all day on the north Norfolk coast.
