An inspirational former student has been remembered for his love of sport during an emotional day at his old school.
Hundreds of children at Litcham School, in mid Norfolk, were joined by staff in a sponsored run in memory of Sam Alger.
Mr Alger died, aged 25, in Spain in June last year.
Mr Alger, from Necton, near Swaffham, worked as a football performance analyst in Qatar, in the Middle East and had previously completed an internship with Hull City Football Club.
He had also played for Dereham Town Football Club.
The whole school took part in the run on Friday and they were joined by Mr Alger's mum Eileen, dad Mick and brother Robbie who all wore Qatari football shirts.
The run raised money for a new sports pavilion, to be built on the school grounds in Mr Alger's memory.
Mrs Alger said: 'We've raised £52,000 so far. That's £1,000 for every week that has passed by since Sam has been gone.
'The support has been fantastic.
'We thought as a family long and hard about what we wanted to do in Sam's memory.
'Sport was Sam's life and he loved to encourage people to enjoy sport and achieve elite performance, so we thought the pavilion would be the most fitting way to remember him.
'It will be used by the children at the school and the wider community for many generations into the future.
'It will create a legacy for Sam.'
The school held a minute's applause to Mr Alger before the run.
Mrs Alger, who has worked at the school for many years, said: 'It is overwhelming to see everyone turn out for Sam and thanks to Sam for bringing out the sunshine.
'Thank you so much to everyone for taking part and for all of the sponsorship money you have raised.'
His father said: 'I'm a very proud dad today and it's overwhelming to see all of the youngsters turning out at the school for this today to help us raise funds for a new pavilion.
'It is an ambitious dream but, with days like this and the money we've raised before, hopefully the dream will become a reality.'
