A BBC broadcaster is set to have a series of children's books published about his friendship with a fox.

Zeb Soanes, who is originally from Lowestoft and is now a Radio 4 newsreader, has told the story of his encounters with an urban fox named Gaspard.

After appearing at Mr Soanes' London home with an injured leg, Gaspard was fed until she recovered and the pair formed a powerful bond.

She became a regular visitor and eventually brought her cubs to visit.

Gaspard has become something of a social media star, boasting 4,000 Twitter followers.

'My experience with Gaspard has created connections with complete strangers around the world who are captivated by her,' said Mr Soanes.

'I hope this book series will help children better understand foxes and their fascinating lives.'

Mr Soanes is collaborating with acclaimed illustrator James Mayhew.

The first title in the Gaspard series is due for release in May 2018.
