Temporary flood barriers are to be tested next week as Waveney District Council looks to prepare for the winter season.
On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, the fully-removable barriers will be tested overnight, in a scheme designed to help reduce the risk of flooding in event of a tidal surge.
The barriers were purchased using more than £400,000 of funding secured from the regional flood and coast committee, and will be deployed in areas across the town that are vulnerable to flooding.
Dave Ritche, Waveney's cabinent member for planning and coastal management, said: 'Having these temporary barriers provides reassurance for local people and this exercise will ensure that we are ready to deploy them again if required.'
In the event of a tidal surge, the barriers will be deployed along Kirkley Ham, Waveney Road, Belvedere Road and Commercial Road.
