The early rounds of the men's singles are underway at the Great Yarmouth Bowls Festival.
Mark Royal, from the Rookery BC in Stowmarket, played pairs winner Chris Willgress from the Norfolk BC in Norwich. After five ends the score was 6-6 but after 10 Royal was 15-9 up.
But Willgress staged a recovery and at 17 ends the score was level 15-15, but that was as good as it got. Willgress failed to score any more shots and Royal ran out a 21-15 winner.
Peter Wilkinson, from the County Arts club in Norwich, won two games and will now play committee member Tony Dunton, who also won two games, in the Great Yarmouth Borough Council-sponsored event.
Ian Wones, from Freethorpe BC, won his first game against Acle St Edmonds BC's Mark Elliott 21-9 while there were also wins for triples winner Wayne Willgress and Freethorpe's Richard Church.
