Tributes have been paid to a retired farmer and family man who died in a collision in a Norfolk town.
Dudley Howe, 82, was hit by a lorry in Station Road, Attleborough, around midday on Friday, October 6.
Mr Howe leaves behind his devoted wife Jennifer, children Paul, Suzanne and Colin and their spouses Margaret, Michael and Jane.
He was known as 'Pop' to his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who loved and adored him and will miss him dearly.
Mr Howe's family said of him: 'He was a true gentle man. Forever in our hearts.'
Mr Howe was born in Threxton in 1935, and moved to Thompson, near Watton, at a young age.
He worked on his father's farm until he married in 1958.
Mr Howe then started his own small dairy herd at Breckles, which he ran until he retired in 2001.
He then moved to Hevingham and recently moved again, to Beech Avenue, Attleborough, to be close to more of his family.
A passion for church, singing, flowers and livestock
Mr Howe was a breeder of Ayrshire dairy cows who had enjoyed showing cattle at the Royal Norfolk, Aylsham and Wayland shows and was a member of the Ayrshire Cattle Society for many years.
He preached in Methodist chapels in circuits around Norfolk until well into his 70s, and was much loved and respected by all who met him. Many churches in the area have been decorated by Mr Howe's floral displays over the years - he enjoyed flower arranging for any celebration but especially harvest festivals.
Although not blessed with the best singing voice, Mr Howe was a member of South Norfolk Operatic Society, and later the Encore Choir from Wymondham.
He was well known for his comic renditions of old favourites.
Inquest opened
An inquest into Mr Howe's death opened in Norwich on Monday, October 16.
A paper review into the death will be held on February 19 and a full inquest is happening on April 3.
Norfolk Police are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
They should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
