Waveney MP Peter Aldous took the chance to sing sea shanties as he joined a group which celebrate the history and cultural heritage of music from the Suffolk coast.
Mr Aldous visited the Rogues Shanty Chorus, which is run by the Voice cLoud, funded by People's Health Trust, using money raised by HealthIntend through The Health Lottery.
During the fortnightly sessions, which began after a popular taster series, members are taught songs that were sung by seafaring communities along the Suffolk coast.
These include sea shanties, music from the fishing trade, and whaling and smuggling songs.
They also sing sacred and superstitious songs while exploring the social and historical context of how maritime and nautical songs were sung in their original setting.
Sessions are led by local historians, musicians and volunteers and are open to absolute beginners and experienced singers.
