People in Buxton, near Aylsham, woke up to find their village had been festooned with knitted and crocheted bunting and other decorations.
Children following the trail to school saw the bakewell tart pillar box, went past the fish and chip shop with knitted fish, chips, pies and cakes in the window, past the bus shelter hanging with spiders and other creatures - not to mention all the birds and acorns hanging in the trees which had their own wraps.
Buxton & District Women's Institute was celebrating its 90th birthday, having been founded in 1927, and vice-president Vereen Marcer said: 'Sunflowers and bakewell tarts reminded people of calendar girls. green hearts and bees (for conservation) represented causes supported by the WI's resolutions. Six months spent secretly planning the yarnbombing was rewarded by everyone's reactions and there was much giggling in the rain the night before while the decorations were put in place by members.'
