Local people were treated to fascinating insights from some renowned guest speakers as Lowestoft Library held its fifth Literary Festival.
Visitors to the library on Saturday (October 7) heard from biologist and BBC broadcaster Dr Ben Garrod, esteemed poet George Szirtes, bestselling author Simon Scarrow and BBC Radio 4 presenter, journalist and author Libby Purves.
The festival was organised by the Friends of Lowestoft Library, who are looking to promote the benefits of reading in the community.
'Reading opens your eyes to a whole new world; you get first-hand accounts that you just can't get on television,' said Dr Garrod.
'Books can act as really useful inspiration and we should be encouraging children to read more.'
Mr Szirtes added: 'It's so important to read books because they have the potential to give hope to people.
'Not only that, but they can also inject ambition and energy into a place.'
