An application for WHSmith Local signage has been submitted to Breckland Council for a new store in Dereham.
The Stow Partnership LLP from Newton Flotman, which now says it is trading as WHSmith Local, is seeking permission for the blue logo above the front door and shop window and a projecting 'S' on the High Street building.
The shop was formerly the William Hill betting shop and Breckland's planners have already approved an application for change of use to WHSmith retail.
The building still says it is under offer, with Brown & Co in negotiation with the buyer.
The Times has contacted WHSmith for confirmation of the move but has, as yet, received no reply.
