An anonymous donor has pledged £2,000 on the Mini Donkeys for Wellbeing's JustGiving page.

The social enterprise, which launched in May, is aiming to raise £5,000 for a horse lorry, which would enable the miniature donkeys to be transported to care homes and autism clubs across the county.

Sarah McPherson began the enterprise after seeing the therapeutic effect donkeys had on her mother, who suffered from dementia. Thus far, Mrs McPherson has been borrowing her partner's van to transport the donkeys, as and when possible.

She said: 'I'm blown away by the response on the JustGiving page. As well as the £2,000 donation we've also had a £400 donation, several £100 donations and so many messages of support.

'Donkeys are very sociable and loving, so what better companion for somebody in a nursing home?'
