We spent five minutes getting to know Beth Dewhurst, chairman of the Diss Town Guide committee and former town councillor who although retired, is a busy member of the Diss Community.
Have you always lived in Diss?
No, but I have lived here for the past 23 years.
Are you involved in any organisations or groups in Diss?
Yes, the Frenze Beck Project, the Christmas Lights committee and the Town Guide Committee.
What's the best thing about being involved with those organisations?
The enthusiasm of the volunteers and making a contribution to town life.
What do you love about Diss?
That many residents despite difficulties have a can do and caring attitude. The thing I do like about Diss is it does seem to be a place where people get up and do things.
What's a typical day like for you?
Varied! I'm often seeing friends or busy with some of the volunteer projects I'm involved with.
Where is your favourite place to go in Diss?
The boardwalk, it's lovely if you just want a bit of time on your own to look over the Mere. But other places I like are the Corn Hall and Diss has lots of cafes and bars and hopefully we'll get more because it's really nice to get out and about.
Which do you prefer, cats or a dogs?
Cats, I have two called Molly and Tilly.
What are you reading at the moment?
I've always got a few books on the go but at the moment I'm reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. It's a bit different from her other stories, the people she writes about are quite interesting because they are all linked in some way.
