A retired carpenter died from an 'extensive' reaction to medication while being treated in hospital, an inquest heard.
Walter Tubby, of Abbeville care home, on Wellesley Road, Great Yarmouth, died at the James Paget Hospital on February 27, 2018.
His inquest was opened in Norwich on Tuesday by area coroner Yvonne Blake.
She said the 93-year-old's medical cause of death was given as acute kidney injury, secondary to an 'extensive drug reaction'.
Ms Blake added: 'He was being treated at the James Paget Hospital and during treatment he had a reaction to medication given to him.'
The inquest was adjourned until July 2, 2018 in Norwich. The full hearing is scheduled to last one hour.
An inquest also opened into the death of former plumbing and heating engineer Thomas Sillett.
The 70-year-old, of Elms Lane, Wangford, Beccles, died at the James Paget Hospital on 28 February this year.
At a hearing on Tuesday, Ms Blake said the medical cause of death was a right lung empyema, as a result of malignant mesothelioma.
He was also suffering from type 2 diabetes.
Ms Blake said: 'Because it is a death with links of working within the industry there has to be an inquest.'
A full hearing will take place on July 2 in Norwich at 10am.
