Dennis Srbeny is just getting started at Norwich City.

The raw striker plucked from the German third tier in January opened his goal account for the club in a thrilling 3-1 Championship home win over promotion-chasing Aston Villa.

Srbeny mixed it on equal terms with former England captain John Terry and City chief Daniel Farke insists his close range strike underlined the 23-year-old can hack it at this level.

'I mentioned before it was just a question of time before he scored, but also to score a determining goal for a striker at a key moment in the game, not a 7-1 win, is even sweeter,' said Farke.

'He is a confident lad and he knows during a period when he was not scoring that he is still trying to adapt to English football and this is a process.

'Before the game we spoke about facing John Terry, who even in Germany is a big legend of the game, but I got the feeling Dennis was brave enough to be there and not be afraid to be tough physically in the duels.

'Dennis thinks more about the team than his personal success.

'When I substituted him after 80 minutes his first words to me were, 'Sorry coach, but I can't go further on. I am exhausted'.

'He was brilliant.'

That label applied to Josh Murphy as well, who struck a breathtaking opening goal.

'An offensive player is not going to be outstanding in each and every game but we have the feeling he is now at an age where he has to find that consistency,' said Farke.

'I am pleased with his development but this is not the end.

'Although he is not the strongest or the toughest guy you have to give him that trust and it was important he was involved in all three goals.

'In the beginning of the game maybe he took some wrong decisions also but we know he has this ability. It is about showing it consistently.'
