Members of the Beccles Morning WI group donned high visibility jackets and rubber gloves to become litter picking Bombles for the day.
Eleven members of the group joined Beccles town councillor Caroline Topping for the clean up in the town after their recent May meeting.
A spokesman said: 'The amount of general litter was pleasingly low but how many cigarette butts were secreted behind buildings and in alleyways!'
Beccles Morning WI meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Blyburgate Hall.
At their meeting, members debated the resolution that mental heath matters as much as physical health.
The spokesman said: 'After a lively debate a unanimous decision was taken to authorise our representative to vote for the resolution at the WI National AGM in June.
'In contrast, we had Mark Ellis telling us all about the Christmas shoe boxes that are sent out to children in conflict zones, last year to the Ukraine. Details of suitable contents both fun and useful were demonstrated, members having agreed to contribute to some boxes this year.'
Next month the group will hear about the endangered Amur tiger.
Visitors are always welcome to the meetings, which start at 9.30am. For more information contact Judith on 01968 781606.
