Holt Library's supporters have donated more than four times the stolen amount, which is now in safe hands at the bank.

Sara Caistor, library manager, said she was thrilled with the response following the theft, which happened at the Church Street library around 8.15pm on January 30.

She said: 'We would like to say a huge thank you to those who have donated. It shows what a lovely, supportive community we have.

'We were raising money for better signage in the town so people know we're here. We're now far closer to our target.'

Anyone with information about the theft can report it to the police by calling 101, quoting reference 515 of 30/1/2018.
