Storybook characters from Harry Potter, to Horrid Henry are featured on the walls of Cromer Junior School's newly revamped library, which was opened this week by children's author Benjamin Scott .
Mr Scott, who writes the Star Fighters series under the pen name of Max Chase, also ran writing workshops for pupils.
He said: 'The library looks amazing; I have been talking to the children about writing being a portal into another world and it is a perfect demonstration of that idea.'
The centrepiece of the £8,000 refurbishment is a wall-to-wall mural created by artists Sonya Kwong and Paula Connolly, of Norwich-based company Sunny and Pea.
The pair, who spent eight weeks working on the project, consulted staff and pupils before coming up with a design featuring dozens of characters, ranging from David Walliams's Gangsta Granny and Roald Dahl's Mr Twit, to the Tiger who came to Tea, Captain Underpants and Batman and Robin.
As part of the revamp, the school has also employed a full-time librarian and has more than £1,000 of new books on order.
Head teacher Whil De Neve said that the new library had inspired pupils' reading and writing.
He added: 'It has become the hub of the school and I think it is something the children are really proud of.'
