Up to 2,000 new homes could be built in North Walsham as part of the local plan.

The plans will be discussed by North Norfolk District Council's planning policy and built heritage working party on Monday, June 18.

Elaine Addison, from Princes Street, plans to speak at the meeting. She is a town councillor for the West ward in the town, but will speak as a resident.

She said: 'The meeting will discuss some detail regarding the emerging local plan, which will include building 2,000 (yes 2,000) new homes in North Walsham.

'Residents are rightly concerned they have not received any infrastructure support through the Hopkins' or Persimmon's developments on the Norwich Road in North Walsham, so with a further 2,000 homes, the residents deserve commitment from North Norfolk District Council planning officers and councillors on the development committee.'

The new homes would mainly be on the west side of the town.
