Dancers taking part in Sheringham's annual Potty Morris and Folk Festival took advantage of World Cup fever on Saturday, and escaped to the town's almost deserted beach to unwind after their Guinness World Record attempt.

By kick off time, the beach, which is usually packed with locals and holiday makers on sunny Saturday afternoons, was empty save for a handful of families and dog walkers.

Keeping them company were a group of dancers from Northamptonshire side Witchmen Morris, a handful of Leicester Morris Men and dancers from Woodside Morris, Bourne Borderers and Peterborough Morris.

Olly Simons, who took part in the successful attempt to break the record for the largest number of morris dancers performing the same dance at the same time, said having a paddle in the sea was a great way of cooling off after the morning's exertions.

He added: 'It's the seventh time I've been to the festival and it's great fun and a great way to make friends.'
