Thirty-eight charging points for electric cars will be installed around north Norfolk in a project to cost almost a quarter-of-a-million pounds.
North Norfolk District Council's Cabinet approved the proposal to install Electric Vehicle Chargepoints (EVCs) in seven car parks.
The project will be funded jointly by the council and the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV).
The EVCs will be installed in NNDC-owned car parks in Sheringham, Cromer, Holt, Fakenham, Wells and North Walsham, as well as at the council offices in Cromer. The installation should be complete by spring 2020.
The proposal aims to meet the expected rise in demand for electric vehicles from 200,000 to six million on the road by 2030.
Sarah Bütikofer, NNDC leader, said: "We are delighted to bring forward this new initiative. This is just the first step on the council's path towards delivering our new 'greener' agenda."
