A Norwich pet store has joined a national fundraising appeal which aims to provide all 2.4m rescue pets in the UK with a Christmas meal.
Pets at Home, in Sprowston Retail Park, will be raising money for Norwich and District Cats Protection as part of the national Santa Paws appeal.
The fundraising will run until Christmas Eve and customers at the store will be invited to donate 50p at the checkout - enough to provide one rescue pet with a Christmas meal.
The appeal is run annually by Support Adoption for Pets, a charity established by Pets at Home in 2006. Since its conception, the charity has supported more than 1,000 rehoming centres and pet rescue organisations.
Amy Wilson, fundraising manager at Support Adoption for Pets, said: 'We hope that the nation will dig deep and think of those pets who are unfortunate enough to find themselves without an owner this Christmas.'
