Norwich United’s search for their first points of the season goes on after a 4-1 defeat at Maldon & Tiptree.
It leaves the Planters still rooted to the bottom of the table without a point to their name after five outings.
United made a strong start, with captain Jamie Speller firing in from a half chance that home keeper Andy Walker just managed to palm away and then from the resultant corner Cassimiro Datocampol headed over.
But the hosts scored after three minutes through Ryan Clampin and added another before half-time thanks to Johnville Renee’s effort on 26 minutes.
The Planters’ half-time team talk yielded almost immediate results when after 52 minutes Speller stepped over a free-kick on the edge of the home side’s penalty area to leave Nathan Stewart to fire in a low drive that seemed to squirm out of Walker’s hands to just cross the line.
But the joy was shortlived, as Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe made it 3-1 on 56 minutes and added another 14 minutes from time.
