Last time the international break arrived Norwich City were desperate to get back on the pitch – yet they worked wonders in that fortnight break.
This time around, they’re still desperate to get back on the pitch – but for very different reasons.
“Obviously last month we ended it in a pretty negative way with the result at Millwall, but we’ve worked hard on the training ground ever since and come back in a positive way,” said Jerome.
“The performances have spoken for themselves and the results have gone for us. We’ve got a little bit of momentum now and it’s probably come at the wrong time for us, this break.
“Ideally we’d like to carry on. But everyone is ready for a break. Seven games in 21 days is tough going and the manager has been sensible in terms of the way he’s selected players. He’s utilised the squad, freshened things up when he needed and we’ve still got lads who have injuries to come back into the fold. So it’s exciting times.

“We’ve just found a little bit of a better balance in our play. I mean, some would complain we were too open before, and then some people would say we’re too defensive now.
“But it’s new for the boss and trying to implement his style of football on this league is very difficult. You’ve got to be able to give him time to do that.
“After the first period up to the last international break, people were judging him a little too harshly in my opinion. But that’s football and people are always going to criticise. We’ve found a happy medium and the results speak for themselves. We’ve just got to nail that at home now.”

Jerome finally got off the mark in his Championship season – his powerful header proving to be City’s winner at Reading.
“Chances have been few and far between, especially for me this season,” he said. “I think we’ve played on the back foot a little too much in the last couple of games but we’ve got the results so you can’t complain.
“It’s always sweet to get the winner. The one in the first half (when Jerome hit the post) was a bit of bad luck but that’s just the way it goes as a striker. You’ve got to keep going, keep making the runs and eventually the ball will drop for you.
“It’s nice to get off the mark but the win is the most important thing, and keeping up this magnificent run we’ve been on.”
