A supermarket in Norfolk will ease the pressure on mums this Mother’s Day by providing special checkout lanes that are staffed by customer assistants who have been specially selected for “friendliness”.
The Morrisons supermarket on Clipbush Lane in Fakenham decided to set up the ‘mums lanes’ after research suggested that 37pc of mothers will visit a supermarket on Sunday, March 11.
The company said that each lane will be “staffed by checkout assistants specially selected for their friendliness.”
The assistants will scan items at a speed to suit each individual mum, whether they want a relaxed pace and a chat, or a quick checkout.
Store Manager James Godfrey, said: “The reality of Mother’s Day is that some mums end up doing lots of chores. So, for mums who shop with us on this special day we want to serve them better by creating a ‘Mum’s Lane’ checkout.”
