Opposition is building to a “rabbit hutch” homes plan in Filby.
Orwell Housing wants to build four new homes with parking in Ormesby Lane.
But neighbours have rounded on the scheme citing a string of objections from over-development, to poor access, small gardens, lack of parking, and overlooking.
Adrian Thompson, chairman of Filby Parish Council, said the village had already done its bit adding to the borough’s housing supply with 43 houses built since May 2014.
The new proposal is on the garden plot of 1 Ormesby Lane, the first in a string of 12 council houses only two of which are still council owned.
“We think this is a step too far,” he said, adding that two homes would be acceptable.
A clutch of people have fired off letters to the council.
One person wrote: “Has anyone looked at the site or is this a virtual reality design?
“People, particularly with small children, need houses not rabbit hutches with hardly the space to kick a ball.”
Another raised fears about sparking a general trend in building on gardens and the possible negative effects on rural communities.
Planning documents say the proposal to build a pair of semi-detached houses and refurbish the one that is there will provide affordable homes for five families in an area of high need.
