Colourful rainbows and bright bunting have lined the streets of one market town since lockdown began.

And the Bungay Society has now highlighted the creative efforts made by residents and businesses since lockdown started in March.

Inspired by children painting colourful rainbows displayed in windows and on garden fences, shopkeepers began their own creations in recognition of the efforts of key workers and NHS staff, as well as an attempt to raise moral during the pandemic.

Terry Reeve, chairman of the Bungay Society, said: “These colourful displays in the shop windows and other places have lifted the town during the lockdown period, and they are a tribute to the town’s community spirit.”

The Bungay Society is issuing certificates to congratulate and thank those involved.

Town reeve Judy Cloke said: “I am delighted to see that so many people have worked hard to cheer us during lockdown.”
