A lost emu found wandering down a farm driveway in Kirtling has been reunited with his owner – and his feathered girlfriend.
The emu, named Eric by those who found him, was discovered on Saturday evening in The Street.
His mysterious appearance prompted an appeal by the RSPCA to track down his owner – after famous jockey Frankie Dettori ruled out the bird being one of his pets.
Now Eric’s owner has been found – and revealed Eric’s real name to be Monty.
The pair were reunited yesterday close to where Monty had been found.
It was an emotional meeting, especially for Monty with his girlfriend Mathilda who had been pining for him.
It is thought something had spooked Monty on the Saturday morning causing him to escape.
Owner Anne-Marie Kirby said she was “relieved” to have him back.
