New Order will headline this year’s Latitude festival alongside American rock band The National and indie group The Maccabees.
The three bands will play the Obelisk Arena at Henham Park in Southwold, Suffolk, from July 14 to July 17, with Chvrches, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Father John Misty, John Grant, The Lumineers, Squeeze, Roots Manuva and Chelmsford based Rat Boy among the other confirmed acts.
Far more than just a music festival, Latitude attracts over 30,000 people to Henham Park each year, who come to enjoy the variety of music, film, comedy and poetry.
Poetry comes courtesy of Don Paterson, John Hegley, Hollie McNish and Henry Normal.
DJ sets in The Late Night Arena will be performed by BBC disc jockey and reggae enthusiast David Rodigan and former Streets frontman Mike Skinner.
Event organisers said New Order would close the event in “spectacular style”.
Their performance comes after last year’s release of Music Complete which surprised the music world, coming 10 years after the release of their last studio album.
The National will be the first ever act to headline the festival twice when they take to the main stage on the Saturday night, after previously headlining the festival in 2011.
Organiser Melvin Benn said: “I’m hugely excited to be bringing back one of our very first Latitude headliners, The National, to top the music bill at this year’s festival.
“The festival has grown a huge amount in its offering since The National last played with us.
“I’m also particularly proud that yet again, we’re offering the biggest and most diverse arts line up of any festival.”
The festival, which begins on July 15 is now in it’s eleventh year, will follow the theme of ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ following the Europe-wide migrant crisis and protests opposing gentrification in Brixton and Brick Lane.
Tickets are on sale now, with adult weekend passes costing £197.50 and day tickets costing £77.50.
