Motorists are having to swerve around a raised manhole cover on the A144 between Bungay and Halesworth, according to police.
One vehicle, which hit the manhole this morning, has been left so damaged it cannot be driven away.
Police were called to the scene on the A144 close to the Illketshall turning, at around 6.25am today, Thursday June 22.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “There is a raised manhole cover on the road.
“It is causing issues on the road as people try to swerve to avoid it.
“We were called to the scene after someone reported hitting the manhole.
“We turned up on scene and another vehicle had hit it as well.
“One of the vehicles is not driveable as a result.”
She said that Highways have turned up to deal with the manhole cover and that police officers will remain on scene help prevent other cars becoming damaged.
