All three emergency services were called to the A11, which was closed heading northbound between the Fiveways Roundabout at Mildenhall and Elveden Forest, after a road traffic collision.
Police were first called at 10.26am to reports of a collision on the A11 heading northbound, Thetford bound just before the Elveden slip.
Three Suffolk Fire and Rescue fire engines were also called to cut one of the drivers from their car and were able to do so by approximately 11.20am.
The man was placed in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service and was later taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
According to Suffolk police, broken fence panels littered the A11 and a vehicle involved in the collision had rolled, blocking the road.
This caused substantial tailbacks along the carriageway.
Suffolk Highways were later on the scene to help clear the road.
Mildenhall police have since announced that the A11 has now re-opened.
The constabulary announced this via social media.
The tweet read:
