Group Football Editor Paddy Davitt has posted his marks following the Canaries’ 1-1 Championship draw at Brentford.
Here is Paddy’s verdict on Daniel Farke’s men, who hung in at times against a slick Brentford before they dredged another decisive late effort.
• Tim Krul
Thank you Mr Krul. Kept his side in it with a flying leap to foil the all action Ivan Toney in the first half and another reaction stop on his line with his legs to keep out Henrik Dalsgaard. 8
• Max Aarons
Grew into it and prominent in the final quarter. Good tussle with Rico Henry and Saman Ghoddos. 6
• Grant Hanley
Lost Toney for the goal. Headed over a big chance later in the first half. Interception sparked Dalsgaard chance. 5
• Ben Gibson
Sloppy early turnovers in possession. Bizarre later booking, when the referee appeared to have a delayed change of heart. Given the lack of central defensive options that accumulation of yellow cards is a concern. 6
• Jacob Sorensen
Bought as a central midfielder. Called up for service as a left back for his debut with minutes to kick off. Finished on the right of a central three. In the circumstances a creditable offering. But not a left back, as shown by the manner Toney and Dalsgaard reacted quicker in the box. 7
• Oliver Skipp
Whether it is the workload or the physicality of the Championship he is not imposing himself on games or offering the control City need in that area. 6
• Lukas Rupp
Won the ball to tee up Emi Buendia for a big first half sighter. Replaced in a double switch with Olly Skipp as City changed shape. 6
• Emi Buendia
The finish failed to make the clever trickery and burst of speed to fashion that first half chance. Will get an assist for his threaded pass to Kenny McLean. Teed up Grant Hanley with a free kick. Couple more probing set pieces in the final quarter. Tried to make things happen. 7
• Mario Vrancic
A bigger helping of Mario. But not his game with Brentford so sharp and pressing so high. Pulled a low, left footed shot wide in the first half. 6
• Todd Cantwell
His head coach said he was struggling pre-match with a hip issue. Whether that was affecting him or not Daniel Farke had seen enough at the interval. Poor offering encapsulated by his aimless square pass intercepted to spark Brentford’s goal. 5
• Teemu Pukki
Back in a more accustomed role. Plenty of endeavour to run Brentford’s backline. But none of the type of service he got at the weekend for his goal. 6
City substitutes
• Przemyslaw Placheta (for Cantwell, 45) 5
Clipped one gorgeous cross but not takers.
• Jordan Hugill (for Rupp, 69) 5
Gave Brentford’s backline something else to think about. Was following in McLean’s effort for any seconds.
• Kenny McLean (for Skipp, 69) 6
You don’t buy a ticket as they say. Although television replays appeared to suggest his equalising effort was going wide before it took a deflection to wrong foot David Raya. Would not be a huge surprise now if he starts at Bristol City.
