A woman whose body was found dead in a ditch in west Norfolk has been identified as a loving mother of two and pillar of her community.

Lynne Howells, 46, was found in the West Lynn Drain at Clenchwarton, near King's Lynn, on Saturday having died the night before.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and this afternoon her family said she was a very loving wife and mother of two children and a very active member of the community in her home village of Hardwick, near Cambridge.

A statement released by the police on behalf of the family said: “She was clerk to the Parish Council, a long standing Beaver Scout leader, editor of the local village magazine, a playground support assistant at the local primary school and village team netball coach to name some but by no means all of her contributions to the community.

“Friends say there were very few Hardwick residents who did not know her. Lynne was devoted to her family who are now trying to come to terms with her loss and ask for understanding from press and friends that they need time to grieve in private and rebuild their lives.”

A memorial service is being arranged at St Mary's Church in Hardwick. A date for an inquest into her death has not been set.
