STEPHEN PULLINGER
Two sisters needed hospital treatment and other youngsters suffered minor cuts and bruises when a bus carrying about 25 school children was forced into an emergency stop.
The Swift operated bus had just picked up pupils from Edward Worlledge Middle School, in Suffolk Road, Yarmouth, and was travelling along nearby Southtown Road when the drama unfolded at about 3.30pm today .
Witnesses reported seeing a child run across the road forcing the driver to brake and flinging passengers forward in their seats.
One of the sisters suffered a neck injury, not believed to be serious, while the other is thought to have fainted. Both were taken by ambulance to Gorleston's James Paget Hospital.
Parents living in nearby Cobholm, where most of youngsters lived, soon heard about the incident and rushed to the scene. They found a lot of the youngsters in shock and crying.
PC Simone Sutcliffe, from Acle Road Traffic Police, said they would carrying out an investigation interviewing the driver and other witnesses.
A spokesman for Swift was tonight unavailable for comment.
