A teenager has been crowned Norwich City Football Club's superfan after he raised nearly £500 for the club by collecting promotional codes from bottles of Coca-Cola and Coke Zero.

Shaun Huskisson, 17, enlisted friends at Bungay High School and his family to help collect the codes, which were then converted into cash for the club's transfer fund.

Shaun raised £471.50 in the nationwide competition - the highest sum raised by one of Norwich City's fans.

For his prize, Shaun and his father Mike, who are Norwich City season ticket holders, have been presented with VIP tickets to today's match against Southampton.

As well as watching the game, the pair will enjoy a two-course meal, a tour of Carrow Road and assist in presenting the Player of the Year trophy.

Shaun said he began collecting the codes in February and had collected hundreds by the time the competition ended on Wednesday. The coupons are currently stashed in carrier bags at his home in South Elmham St James, Suffolk.

“At school I had a network of friends who helped me,” said Shaun. “There was a shop next door to the school where people would buy their lunch and I started getting codes from there, and I had 11 friends collecting for me.

“My dad would stop people in the street if they had one of the bottles and we would even look in hedgerows.

“After the game Norwich played against Blackpool there were loads of bottles left behind in the stands, so I stayed behind and collected quite a lot that way.”

Mike Huskisson said the whole family, including his wife Susan and daughter Lucy-Ann, 15, had got involved and that Shaun's efforts had not gone unnoticed by his school.

Mr Huskisson said that Shaun's form tutor had written in his school report: “Shaun is a very active member of the school, whether it be in form time, school council or collecting Coke bottles.”

Mr Huskisson, who has another son Grahame, 20, said: “Shaun has done really well to win this. We are both really looking forward to watching the game. It's a fantastic prize.”

A Norwich City spokesman said fans had raised £6,663 for the club through the competition.

“Norwich ended up finishing in 11th place out of all the clubs. We are particularly pleased with Shaun for raising nearly £500.
