Firefighters were call out to the Zen club, in Marine Parade, at just after 4am on Saturday after a blaze started on the third floor of the building.
No-one was seriously injured, but a man aged in his early 30s was treated for smoke inhalation.
A Norfolk fire service spokesman said crews from Yarmouth, Gorleston and Acle dealt with the fire and were at the scene until about 6am.
She added: “We requested assistance from the police as the fire was believed to have been started deliberately.”
Fire investigators and police were at the club during the morning and managers were still waiting to assess the full extent of the damage.
