The body of a 41-year-old man was today discovered in Norfolk woods.

The man, from Thetford, had been reported missing to police by his partner on Tuesday when he failed to return to his home.

His car was located late last night at Great Hockham picnic site off the A1075, near Thetford. As a result, area searches were carried out by officers, with the support of the Norfolk Police dog unit, the force helicopter and the civilian Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue team (NORLSAR).

The man's body was discovered by officers close to the site just before 1pm today. Norfolk Police is not treating the death as suspicious.

Steve Fairbrass from NORLSAR said: “It has been a very sad day for family and friends of the deceased and we hope that they are able to have some kind of closure now that their loved one has been found.”
