Police in King's Lynn are warning householders to be alert to conmen operating in the area following reports of two men posing as water board officials in the town today.
Two men called at the home of an elderly woman in the Tennyson Avenue area at approximately 11am this morning (Tuesday June 19th).
They talked their way in claiming they needed to check water pressure, and left after stealing a quantity of cash.
Householders are reminded to double check the identity of anyone cold calling at their home and to look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be targeted.
Det Insp Paul Chapman, of Lynn CID, said: “In light of this offence, which is under investigation, we are asking people to be particularly mindful of potential thieves posing as officials and to report anything suspicious immediately to police, taking descriptions and vehicle details where possible.”
Information can be reported to police on 0845 4567 4567. In case of an emergency or where the offenders are still nearby call 999.
