A 16-year-old boy accused of murdering an 11-month-old baby at Yarmouth appeared at Norwich Crown Court today.

A 16-year-old boy accused of murdering an 11-month-old baby at Yarmouth appeared at Norwich Crown Court today.

The 16 year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with the murder of the baby, Ruby Spink, on September 16.

No application was made for bail and he was remanded in custody.

The baby's mother, Laura Spink, 18, is accused of being in the same household as the child and causing her death or being aware that there was a serious risk of physical harm to the baby and failed to take steps to protect her.

Spink, whose address was given as Salisbury Road, Yarmouth, did not appear for the hearing but she was also remanded in custody.

Both Spink and the teenager will appear at a further hearing at Norwich Crown Court on December 10.
